Why you are smarter than a Tesla

Tesla just announced its new AI semiconductor is now deployed in its latest Model S and Model X cars.

Until now, Apple’s M1 chip implementation in the Apple Mac Pro was the most powerful AI chip on the market in terms of floating operations at 56 trillion operations per second.

Tesla’s chip operates at 72 trillion operations per second, 21 times more powerful than the NVIDIA chip that Tesla used until now.

Tesla’s AI chip is 180 times more powerful in terms of processing power than an F-35 fighter jet, 144 million times more powerful than the systems used to power Apollo 11’s trip to the Moon.

There is one thing Tesla’s new chip can’t beat in processing power: the human brain. Our brains do about a quadrillion (1,000,000,000,000,000) operations per second.

As tech analyst Jeff Brown argues, we can say that we are still 14 times smarter than a Tesla.
